HOW CAN WE FIND YOU?

CAN WE CHECK IN ANY TIME?
No, sorry, because we are a private house and not a hotel, we do check-in by appointment. We kindly ask you to inform us at what time you wish to have your check-in appointment, as we need to plan our days ahead and we are not always at home. It’s no problem if you don’t know your arrival time yet. However, knowing your arrival time is essential for us, so we kindly ask you to send us a message, text or call us on +354 857 15 89 at least some hours in advance so we can plan our day. There is no staffed reception, so we count on your collaboration.

We are taking a break between 11am and 4pm and we won’t be available during this time, so the doors will be closed. We kindly ask you to respect our privacy.

MAY WE DEPOSIT OUR LUGGAGE EARLIER (BEFORE 16:00/4pm)
As we are unavailable between 11:00 and 16:00 (4pm), you would have to bring your luggage before 11:00 or after 16:00. Due to our long working hours, we are having a lunch break and a siesta before check-in starts. We kindly ask you to respect our privacy.

No, sorry. Please note that check-in before 16:00 (4pm) is not available unless you book the night before as well. We kindly ask you to respect our privacy.

OUR FLIGHT IS ARRIVING EARLY MORNING – CAN WE CHECK IN EARLY MORNING?
If your flight arrives very early in the morning and you wish to arrive here directly after your flight, a booking for the night before arrival is mandatory.

We do offer day rooms upon availability. Please send us an e-mail.

WHAT ARE YOUR CHECK-IN TIMES?
General check-in is possible by appointment only from 16:00 (4pm) to 21:00 (9pm). No early check-in, no late check-out. Late check-in is only available for guests on late flights (arrival before 1am)

We do have a beautiful hot tub in the garden (open from 18:00 to 22:00) and there are many restaurants in town, so you better arrive early to enjoy your stay.

OUR FLIGHT ARRIVES VERY LATE. WHAT IS THE LATE ARRIVAL PROCEDURE?
Late arrival after 20:00 (8pm) is subject to special request and confirmation from Guesthouse 1×6. If you are are arriving on a flight around midnight, we will meet you at the airport. Pick-up service* from the airport is compulsory for late arrival by air. We kindly ask you to provide your full flight information (flight number, arrival time and port of origin). We will meet you at the airport arrival hall to bring you to our guesthouse as soon as possible. If you are planning to rent a car, please note that due to the number of airplanes arriving, it is too time consuming to pick up a car after arrival. You cannot stay at our property if you wish to pick up your rental car in the night.

In the morning, we will bring you to the car rental station if you wish so*.

Late arrival check-in is available for guests arriving on late flights with a scheduled arrival before 00:30 (12:30am) only. If your flight is scheduled to arrive after 00:30 (12:30am), check-in is not available in the night of your arrival.

*Transfer Keflavik airport – guesthouse or vice versa is available at a fee. For details see booking process.

WHAT TIME IS CHECK-OUT?
Check-out time is before 11:00.

MAY WE CHECK OUT LATE?
No, sorry, but late check-out is not available as we only have a short time to clean the rooms. However, if your flight is leaving late, you may deposit your luggage at our guesthouse free of charge while you go on a stroll through town. You may then come back to pick up your luggage before you fly out.

WE WILL RETURN OUR RENTAL CAR IN THE EVENING – CAN YOU PLEASE PICK US UP AT THE CAR RENTAL STATION?
No problem. However, please also note that most car rental agencies are well prepared for morning drop off’s as most of the planes are leaving early morning. It’s normally a matter of 10 min. if there are no issues with the car. So you might want to think of keeping the car until the morning as you don’t save time by bringing the car back in the evening. Rental agreements are usually calculated on a 24 hour basis, so it is usually the same rate for dropping off the car in the evening or in the morning.

DO YOU OFFER AIRPORT TRANSFER SERVICES?
We offer airport transfer service for you at extra charge. The transfer is available from 04:30am. Rates are published in the booking process.

IS THERE A PUBLIC BUS FROM OR TO REYKJAVIK?
If you wish to use the public bus, there is stræto bus line no. 55 from Reykjavik (BSI bus terminal or Ráðhúsið town hall) which is bound for Keflavik Airport via Keflavik town. On Saturday/Sunday/Holiday or evening, the route 55 starts in Hafnarfjörður, so you have to take any bus to  Hafnarfjörður first. The closest bus stop to our guesthouse is called HRINGBRAUT/MELTEIGUR, which is a 5 minutes walk from our guesthouse. Once you get off at the bus stop, walk down Vesturgata towards the sea, at the roundabout you can see our guesthouse. Please note that the straeto bus is a lot cheaper than the Flybusses to the airport.

ARE YOU CLOSE TO THE WATERFALLS AND VOLCANOES?
Just around the corner is an active volcano! 🙂 In less than 30 minutes, you can drive to the parking lot, from where you can hike up to see this once in a lifetime experience.

However, no waterfalls around the corner yet (still working on it…), but of course you can go there in a day excursion.

ARE YOU CLOSE TO THE BLUE LAGOON
We are a 25 minutes drive by car. Please refer to this page for further info: https://www.1×6.is/blue-lagoon

IS THERE A BUS FROM OR TO THE BLUE LAGOON?
No. Limited scheduled bus service* is only available to/from Keflavik airport, so we recommend to rent a car. Alternatively, we can book a special rate direct transfer for you, as the cost for the bus via airport is almost the same.

WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO SEE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS?
If the weather is fine and the activity is high, you will be able to see the northern lights directly from our garden. However, if you have a rental car, it will allow you to drive out to the nature to spend time outside and wait for the lights. There is no guarantee to see it as you need to have clear skies and high activity at the same time. But the more time you spend outside looking into the skies, the more likely it is to see the lights. There are sometimes also tours to see the northern lights with a pick up from our guesthouse, but we recommend to book them last second when the chances are high as otherwise it’s a waste of time and money.

CAN WE GO SKIING?
There is a ski area near Reykjavik called Bláfjöll, but as the weather is very unpredictable and you have to have quiet and nice winter weather to be able to go there, so don’t count on it. As there is only one bus a day which leaves from Reykjavik, you can almost only reach it with a good 4×4 rental car:

MAY I HAVE A ROOM WITH SEA VIEW?
Please note that none of our rooms offer a sea view. However, you can enjoy the sea view from our breakfast area as well as anywhere outside our guesthouse.

MAY I HAVE A ROOM WITH A PRIVATE BATHROOM?
Please note that none our rooms do offer a private bathroom / toilet. However, there is a maximum of 3 rooms sharing 1 bathroom, so it has never been an issue. We also allocate our guests according to travel times to avoid conflicts. You might even be lucky to get a bathroom for private use if we don’t fill up.

MAY I HAVE A QUIET ROOM?
Please note that none our rooms are more quiet than others. We only have 3 rooms on each floor and we try to keep the house quiet after 22:00. However, the guesthouse is in an old house and none of the rooms are soundproof and you will hear the other guests or doors closing. If you are a light sleeper, please ask us for ear plugs, we provide them free of charge.

I DO HAVE A SPECIAL ROOM REQUEST
We do allocate our guests according to their travel times in order to provide a good sleep for everyone. Therefore, we can never guarantee a specific room request. However, we will try to fulfil all room requests, subject to availability.

MAY I USE THE HOT POOL / GARDEN SPA DURING THE NIGHT?
No, sorry.  The hot pool is only open from 18:00 (6pm) to 22:00 (10pm). Please note that the pool will be closed during storms and heavy wind.

ARE THERE ANY RESTAURANTS NEARBY?
There are some very nice restaurants in walking distance. Please ask us for recommendations and deals!

DO YOU OFFER LUNCH AND DINNER?
No. We only offer breakfast. However, many restaurants are in walking distance.

IS THERE A GUEST KITCHEN WHERE WE CAN COOK AND EAT OUR OWN FOOD?
No. We are a bed & breakfast without cooking facilities for guests. You may eat your picknick in our breakfast area, however, due to the limited seats, guests who booked breakfast do have priority seating in the breakfast area.


IS THERE A SUPERMARKET?
Yes, there are several supermarkets and grocery stores as well as two 24 hour convenience store in walking distance.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO SHARE A TRIPLE ROOM WITH A FAMILY OF 4?
No. Minimum age for children at our property is 10 years.

IS THERE SOMETHING SPECIAL WE NEED TO KNOW WHEN WE TRAVEL IN ICELAND?
The weather and wind conditions can be quite wild here in Iceland. Please be aware of the weather and check it regularly.

No, sorry, we offer neither laundry services nor a coin laundry.
