we invite you to stay at our house by the sea

Our concept of a guesthouse is to provide the traveller not only with a good night sleep but an experience to remember. We have chosen to focus on creating an interior that opens the senses and enlivens the spirit of young and old alike. The house was worked with joy and an endless sense of magic.

It is our observation that life is enriched when our surroundings contain natural materials, as well as making a conscious effort to treat our environment with respect. This has been our focus in the creation of each room. Some of those elements are:

  • 1×6 is the dimension in inches of the timber used to create both beds, walls, wardrobes, benches, tables inside the bedrooms and communal areas
  • Recycled/old timber which holds character as well as being environmentally sound
  • Driftwood collected along the local shores
  • Recycled timber from giant cable drums, this can be seen in the headboard of two of the double beds
  • Ocean shaped volcanic stones, used in the garden hot pot as well as decorating the upstairs bathroom
  • Bathroom tiles, salvaged and regenerated from broken discarded collection sites

Iceland is fast becoming a destination linked to wellness, largely due to the Blue Lagoon, which is in our neighbourhood. It is now also a very popular destination to see the Northern Lights. At the 1×6, we have created a virtual private garden spa in the shape of an stone hot pot. Natural Geothermal water is used to fill this mini-pool, which holds 10 or more people comfortably. For your comfort we provide bathrobes to walk to those waters at the end of the day.
